Aviation Facilities, Inc., which has has taught more than 4,500 people to fly since their school in Fullerton, Calif. was founded nearly 40 years ago (becoming a Cessna Pilot Center in March 2000) has been selected to receive the first-ever Cessna Aircraft Company Diamond Award.
"Flying has been a part of my family for all of my life," said Bill Griggs Sr. "I love sharing it with other people."
Because of Griggs' enthusiastic effort to embrace any program Cessna offers, AFI was selected for the award.
"AFI participates in every program including Back to Basics, Leads, CPC seminars, IDP G1000 CFAI training for their staff, Phase Card and many others. That is not very common," said Jim Hackman, regional manager of Cessna Pilot Centers. "Bill freely and willingly shares his expertise with others and gives the customer the value they expect from a Cessna endorsed flight training program."
Griggs said he was excited to receive the recognition.
"When people think of flying, people think of Cessna," Griggs said. "We are a Cessna Pilot Center, and people know that means we have safe, quality aircraft, and a program that produces safe, quality pilots. People know to trust Cessna because we've taught more people to fly than any other company in the world."
