In New Zealand, we are charged by CAA(FAA) for everything you can
imagine. A met forcast from Met services is $14.00( no visa no
forcast!) Landing charges start at $10.00 for a P.A 32. Airways charges
start at $10.00 plus tax, C of A charges look like their phone number,
Audits are charged at $133.00 per man hour.
A one man one aircraft company can expect more than one audit per year, with a minimum
charge of 10 hours. NZ tops the world in rotary wing accidents, and we are not
improving on fixed wing accidents. The State will not pay any more than
$4 million per year for CAA; the industry must find the next $11
million! The pilots and AOPA of USA must stamp out any suggestion of
user pay system because it will ruin a magnificent hobby/sport carreer
and cause the equivilent of AIDS to Aviation.
