All you who value freedom
Look hard at the sky today.
Do you not see the vapour trails
That scarce have blown away,
Or hear the rattle of cannon
Above a Merlins' roar, or
See those Spits and Hurris
Evening up the score?
Can you not smell the burning oil,
Nor feel the heat of the flames?
Can you not even remember
Any of those famous names?
Tuck, Malan and Hillary
The Smiths and Evans too,
That happy band of brothers,
England's gallant "Few".
All you who value freedom
Get down on your knees today.
Thank God for the guts of our airmen
Who kept the Hun away from
The homes and heart of England -
That lives in peace today.
